Tokita Misuzu is a painter from Osaka, now based in Tokyo. Her work explores the maturation of young girls into adults through the expression of their eyes. She is inspired by traditional Japanese Ukiyo-e. It's a common technique in Ukiyo-e to flatten and simplify the background. She magically encircles people's weakness and stagnation, incorporating their distinct ambiguous expressions, from the ancient painting style to the current Kawaii culture, and pursuing realism.
